For senior living operators managing dozens of communities, data is everywhere, but finding visibility is challenging. Before anyone can even review, hours pour into updating spreadsheets, manually consolidating reports and deciphering conflicting data. Teams make decisions too late or without a complete picture. Five operators share how they made the switch to senior living reporting dashboards.
In our new ebook, See everything, decide faster: Senior living in the age of connected data, leaders from LCB Senior Living, Allegro Living, Silvera for Seniors, Silverado and The Manor Village Life Centers describe how they changed the way their teams work, accessing real-time data in clear dashboards.
Spreadsheets aren’t a strategy
Every operator started with manual processes: Excel files, email chains and multi-system workarounds. Here’s what that looked like.
Allegro Living tracked occupancy and operational performance across 60+ communities using spreadsheets and email. Each week, community teams filled out reports manually and sent them for consolidation. Leadership then double-checked submissions for accuracy before any decisions could be made.
LCB Senior Living collected quality assurance metrics manually across multiple sources. The information was often backward-looking, limiting the ability to respond quickly to emerging trends.
Silvera for Seniors used several reporting tools across departments, but metrics weren’t always consistent. So, teams had to manually compile data in spreadsheets. Without a centralized view, leaders lacked clarity on performance and trends across their 38 communities.
How senior living reporting dashboards create one source of truth
Whether occupancy data, clinical metrics or financial performance, the common outcome across all five organizations was consolidation: one platform, one set of consistent calculations and one real-time view that everyone from community staff to investors could trust.
When Silverado switched from separate reporting tools across departments to Senior IQ, clinical, financial and marketing data came together on one platform for the first time. “We’re finally able to see how certain outcomes impact various departments of the organization,” said Jessica Ortega, vice president and corporate controller at Silverado.
Bill Aggelakos, senior business analyst at Silvera for Seniors, described the change to consistent, accessible dashboards in Senior IQ: “We get one system of truth for operational data instead of having many takes on extracts that can lead to different numbers.”
For Allegro Living, that single source of truth showed up most visibly during investor calls. Rebecca Peterson, operations specialist at Allegro Living, said that leadership could answer questions on the spot with Senior IQ dashboards open. “They can answer questions in real time and just say, ‘Oh yeah, I can pull that for you right now’ instantaneously, instead of waiting to find that report or drill down,” she said.
The Manor Village Life Centers is in the process of implementing Senior IQ after using the rest of the Yardi Senior Living Suite. “We’re very much looking forward to leveraging customized dashboards that will provide both high-level insights and department-specific data, which will be highly valuable to our operational team,” said Nicolle Blais, chief operating officer at The Manor Village.
Time returned is time invested elsewhere
When compiling data is no longer a job, that time goes toward using data to improve the business.
At LCB Senior Living, clinical teams now track care for at-risk residents directly in real-time dashboards — time that was previously spent gathering data from multiple sources.
At Silverado, leaders stopped downloading reports before meetings and started using that time for strategic discussion instead. “This allows for more fruitful discussions and gives back time to all leaders of the organization,” Ortega said.
Whether you’re just getting started or already scaling
These three patterns are drawn from five full client stories in our See everything, decide faster ebook. Each story goes deeper into what changed — and why — for operators across the industry, from a nonprofit in Calgary to a memory care specialist operating in 10 U.S. states.
