Tailored packages for nonprofits

Forming 22 community service teams and competing in relay races to gather items, the sales force undertook the challenge of assembling care packages for four Santa Barbara, California, area nonprofits: New Beginnings, Good Samaritan Shelter, Transition House and the YMCA of Greater Santa Barbara – Noah’s Anchorage. The 500 packages, each of which was tailored to the organizations’ constituents, contained toothpaste, blankets, gloves, journals, hygiene products, snacks and other essential items.

Direct community impact

“I was honored to be a part of this experience because it helps us see that our work directly impacts our local community and our global community.

The competition-focused team-building and strategy put everyone on the same level, from associates to management. It was really fun,” said Liz Rogan, a Yardi sales account executive.

New Beginnings provides safe overnight parking for people living in vehicles, along with housing services, counseling and education programs. Transition House supports families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with emergency shelter, transitional housing and other services.

Emergency shelters, youth tutoring and afterschool programs, sober living housing and culinary career training are among the array of services offered by Good Samaritan Shelter. Meanwhile, the YMCA offers mental health counseling, basic needs support and housing/education/employment case management for youths ages 12-17.
