In common with many nonprofits, the Idaho Foodbank, which provides nutrition services in a state where 11.4% of residents are food insecure, relies on volunteers to carry out its mission.

Sixteen Senior Living and Global Solutions employees from the Yardi office in Boise, Idaho, added their energy to the Idaho Foodbank’s mission during a recent visit to the organization’s headquarters in Meridian, about 10 miles west of Boise.

The team packaged 1,500 pounds of squash into 5-pound bags and examined 7,200 fruit cups, applied allergen labels, labeled the cups and loaded them into boxes for final delivery.

These items are part of more than 26 million pounds of food that the Idaho Foodbank, through a network of more than 400 community partners, distributes annually to more than 50 communities across the state. Recipients include mobile pantries, school pantries and senior nutrition programs.

“This was my first time volunteering at the Idaho Foodbank, and it was an awesome opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes. To think of how much work the employees and volunteers do every day to distribute millions of pounds of food each year to those in need is truly impressive. It was so fun to do this with coworkers and an honor to be involved. I am looking forward to coming back,” said Emma Engebrecht, an administrative assistant in the Boise office.

“My favorite part was knowing the items that I was packaging were going to families in need,” added Deacon Starr, a technical account manager.

Other employees participating in the event were Jason Madsen, Scott Nelson, Heather Madsen, Britney Hoffer, Brittany Motz, Michelle Glasgow, Megan Konop, Lindsay Stadeli, Lauren Albertson, Ellen Hoppock, Lisa Horzen, Jeff Smith, Katie Beery and Andrea Leiby.

The Yardi Boise office has partnered with Idaho Foodbank for several years. Other nonprofits that the office supports include Camp Rainbow Gold, Meals on Wheels and the Idaho Anti-Trafficking Coalition.
