AI-powered lease abstraction built into Voyager
Every commercial lease contains critical information, from tenant details and rent escalations to clauses buried deep within complex legal language. Instead of a person reading through a document and interpreting what they find, Smart Lease scans the lease using optical character recognition and AI models that train themselves on your lease structures and property configurations. It identifies and extracts key data points including spaces, square footage, rent schedules, escalations, percentage rent and critical clauses, then maps that information directly to the appropriate Voyager lease fields.
When a new lease is ready for processing, simply upload the document into Voyager. From there, Smart Lease uses optical character recognition (OCR) and AI models trained on your lease structures and property configurations to identify and extract key data points, including spaces, square footage, rent schedules, escalations, percentage rent and critical clauses. The system then maps that information directly to the appropriate Voyager lease fields, significantly reducing the time and effort typically required for manual data entry.
How it works
When a new lease is ready for processing, simply upload the document. Smart Lease abstracts clauses and displays a consolidated overview of the terms it identified. To see where a term came from, click it and Smart Lease will take you to its source in the document. Abstraction, which used to take even legal several hours, now happens in a matter of minutes.
Lease abstraction across the tenant lifecycle
Smart Lease doesn’t only handle new leases, it can also intake a variety of amendments and validation documents. The process is nearly identical to abstracting a new document, with a few amendment-specific steps.
Just mark the new document as an amendment when you upload it. Once the model scans the document, it displays a side-by-side comparison of the new and existing terms. This way, you know the impact of every amendment before it goes live without having to comb through legal documents. This process works even if the original lease hasn’t been executed yet. It can also support amendments that originate in Deal Manager or Retail Manager.
A review process designed for accuracy
Smart Lease is designed to support your team’s expertise, not replace it. After abstracting the document, Smart Lease gives every abstracted term a confidence score and requires human review and approval before extracting the terms to the ledger. If any data is incorrect or missing, you can select it in the document and direct Smart Lease to link it to the correct field. The model also learns from these corrections, improving its accuracy and speed over time.
Once the review is complete, simply select extract and Smart Lease automatically populates the lease record in Voyager with the finalized data. The tool eliminates manual re-keying, ensuring data makes it into the system accurately. For high-volume situations, bulk processing lets teams queue multiple leases simultaneously. Structured data flows into Voyager to support faster onboarding and billing setup as soon as each lease clears review.

Captured clauses are tied to their exact location within the document, allowing users to open the lease and navigate directly to the relevant section with a single click.
