ORONTO — April 8, 2013 — Yardi Systems, Inc., a leading developer of retirement community and investment management software, announced today its partnership with the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) on a data collaboration project designed to collect and analyze key data elements associated with retirement communities in the province of Ontario. Yardi’s commitment makes the technology firm a member of ORCA’s Founders Club and adds to the working capital necessary for the project to launch.

The data collaboration project will deliver specialized information about the seniors housing market in Ontario such as demographics, vacancy rates, and gaps in resident services so that retirement community developers and investors can better identify opportunities to provide housing and services. “As the association representing more than 80 per cent of Ontario’s growing retirement community sector, we are very pleased to introduce what will be the first-ever data collection and reporting program for Ontario’s retirement communities,” said Laurie Johnston, ORCA’s CEO. “Thanks to the support from Yardi and other visionary members of our Founders Club, we are well on our way to making this groundbreaking initiative a reality.”

Eric Kolber, vice president of Yardi’s seniors housing division said, “Yardi is the software provider for a very large percentage of the Canadian market, which puts us in a unique position to assist with the collection of real and meaningful data. Having already worked with the National Investment Center (NIC) in the United States on an equivalent project to refine and automate the data collection process, we look forward to sharing our technical experience with ORCA.”

“ORCA’s data collaboration project will provide much needed information to the Canadian seniors housing industry. With the automation of data collection through Yardi Voyager™, processing time will be reduced and data accuracy will be increased, benefiting everyone involved with retirement communities in Ontario. We look forward to bringing it all to fruition,” said Kolber.
