Affordable housing manager ALCO Management Inc. has gained additional value from its Yardi Voyager� property management and accounting platform.

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF., July 26, 2010 – Affordable housing manager ALCO Management Inc. has gained additional value from its Yardi Voyager™ property management and accounting platform by using three products: Yardi CHECKscan™, Yardi Resident Screening™, and Yardi Portal™.

ALCO recently sought a new solution to replace manual handling of rent payments, which diverted staff members from higher-value duties. In response, the company implemented Yardi CHECKscan, which scans ALCO residents’ rent checks into electronic Voyager transactions and enables same-day electronic fund transfers to the bank with minimal manual touch-points. “CHECKscan saves many hours per week of processing time by automatically matching payments to the resident ledger and eliminating trips to the bank,” said Michael Johnson, ALCO executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

The company also aimed to establish consistent resident screening standards across its 70 apartment communities and to improve its marketing outreach and resident services. It is accomplishing those goals with Yardi Resident Screening, which provides credit, eviction search, criminal and rent payment history screening. “Along with enforcing corporate-wide screening standards, Resident Screening provides a reliable, automated process. The ability to launch a credit check directly from the Voyager guest card workflow and from Yardi Portal, without having to use a separate system, will help our leasing agents work much more efficiently,” Johnson said.

ALCO will soon implement Yardi Portal, whose dynamic link with Yardi Voyager will allow real-time online marketing of properties and available units, online leasing with credit checking, and numerous online self-service options for residents including rent payments, lease renewals and work order requests.
