As severe flooding continues to impact Central Texas, leaving at least 120 people dead and more than 160 missing, several nonprofit organizations supported by Yardi are on the scene delivering vital supplies and services.<\/p>\n

For example, Direct Relief<\/a> provided an initial commitment of $50,000 in emergency operating funds for volunteer search and rescue crews and made its $90 million stockpile of medications and supplies available to responding organizations. The humanitarian aid organization reported that its workers \u201care coordinating closely with local healthcare providers, emergency response agencies and search-and-rescue groups.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three groups, one common goal<\/h2>\n

In the month preceding the disaster, Direct Relief, acting through a long-term partnerships network, sent medicines and supplies valued at more than $114,000 to 12 organizations in counties now under state disaster declaration.<\/p>\n

Direct Relief, based near Yardi corporate headquarters in Santa Barbara, California, is active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, World Central Kitchen<\/a> mobilized on the first day of the flooding to deliver thousands of meals at summer camps and at reunification centers and hotels where evacuees reconnected with loved ones.<\/p>\n

Relief team members in Texas \u201cprovide food and water to anyone in need, including first responders working nonstop to find survivors,\u201d noted the Washington, D.C.-based organization, whose mission is to providemeals in response to humanitarian, climate and community crises.<\/p>\n

Also playing a key role is Austin, Texas-based TEXSAR Inc.<\/a>, which has made its array of specialized resources, including ground search and rescue, flood rescue and aerial search, available to the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be deploying volunteer \u2018ground pounders,\u2019 swiftwater teams, boats, drone teams, K9s and whatever else requesting agencies need of us,\u201d stated the organization, which works across Texas at the request of law enforcement, fire departments and emergency management agencies.<\/p>\n
