Laura Sacks, a senior manager who works on Yardi\u2019s investment management product suite, celebrates her fifth year at Yardi this November, giving her the benefit of four months in the office with colleagues before the world went remote during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Yardi was Sack\u2019s first corporate job, which she applied for with guarded optimism from referrals within the company and a dash of healthy skepticism since she is a relationships-oriented individual, so she was curious about how collaboration and connections would manifest in this space. She immediately found the spirit of exceptional generosity\u00a0within the Yardi culture!<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is an energy of focused growth through the company that is achieved through discourse, creativity and collaboration that I find both energizing and inspiring,\u201d said Sacks.<\/p>\n

Sacks spends her workdays working with clients, meeting with her team and developing special projects to facilitate growth and collaboration. Because Yardi, the products, and our clients constantly evolve, knowledge is forever growing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI truly love how every day holds the potential for something slightly different from the day before and the ability to learn something new. Should you approach each day with a builder\u2019s mindset and a willingness to say \u201cyes\u201d whenever possible, the opportunities for learning and growing at Yardi are endless,\u201d exclaimed Sacks, her enthusiasm for continuous learning and growth shining through.<\/p>\n

Sacks reflects daily on advice about communication since her role is primarily about good communication and collaboration. She wants those to know that when communicating remember that clear is kind and unclear is unkind, \u201ceven if the topic is hard for you and\/or the recipient, ambiguity is harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evolving products<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sacks prides herself on a project series of time-weighted performance calculations she built without knowing much about calculator analytics or time-weighted returns beforehand. <\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciated the mentorship I received from my manager and the ability to hone my grit a bit \u2013 you end up surprising yourself in the best\u00a0ways when you\u2019re willing to roll up your sleeves,\u201d said Sacks.<\/p>\n

If she could switch roles with another team member at Yardi, Sacks said that she would pick Joel Loewen, vice president for cloud services.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a cloud-based software in a constantly evolving digital landscape, I imagine Joel\u2019s daily challenges and considerations\u00a0require incredible attention to detail\u00a0and a far-reaching understanding of the big picture. I imagine my day-to-day challenges might feel simpler after a day in his shoes!\u201d<\/p>\n

Sacks is proud of how her team uplifts and empowers each other and their clients, and she is honored to be a part of it. She would love to collaborate more with cross-team projects geared towards innovation and building bridges, \u201cIf you ever want to grab a\u00a0coffee or have a virtual coffee session over TEAMs, I\u2019d love to connect with you.\u201d\u00a0This sense of pride and unity makes Yardi successful and something we can all be proud of.<\/p>\n

Outside the office, Sacks spends her time backpacking, traveling more expertly and skillfully, outside in nature, and immersed in different cultures. She also enjoys being an Aunt, weightlifting, rock climbing, motorcycling, reading, writing, painting, gaming and whittling! <\/p>\n

She would love to go to Mt. Taranaki in New Zealand, which she inadvertently stumbled upon while driving aimlessly around the countryside earlier this year, and it took her breath away. It\u2019s a mountain with conditions known to be mercurial, and Sacks likes the idea of testing her grit while honoring such a naturally beautiful place.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo your best each day, knowing that it\u00a0might look different from one day to the next. Remember that each of us, no matter our role, is a pebble in the pond: we each can interact with only so many clients and colleagues each day, but we can positively impact so many more through grace, presence, good intent, and mindfulness we bring to each interaction.\u201d<\/p>\n
