As an annual occurrence, Older Americans Month (OAM) is a time to recognize seniors\u2019 contributions, shed light on aging trends and reaffirm commitments to helping older adults thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n

We\u2019re inspired by this year\u2019s theme \u2014 Powered by Connection \u2014 and the thoughtful efforts by industry associations, as well as senior living communities across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrate Older Americans Month this year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2024 OAM theme is all about keeping older adults connected. More specifically, it recognizes the impact connections have on seniors\u2019 health and wellness \u2014 and brings awareness to the role we can all play in building those connections.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the observance this year, the Administration for Community Living shared a list of ideas for participating, including suggestions for how to create connections and boost seniors\u2019 physical, mental and emotional health. Their list is full of fun ideas like coordinating a class on topics seniors are interested in, hosting a musical event or even planning a game night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LeadingAge, an industry association committed to serving older adults, is taking part in OAM with their annual \u201cVideo Share Day.\u201d Occurring on May 15, Video Share Day invites LeadingAge members to post PSAs with ideas for keeping older adults connected. They\u2019ve thoughtfully created resources for members to utilize including sample videos, social media captions and more.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
