They need a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/products\/senior-living-software-suite\/\">comprehensive solution<\/a> to market their communities, streamline care, boost resident satisfaction and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Occupancy insights in senior living<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NIC Executive Surveys aim to provide transparency in the senior living industry. The Wave 31 survey \u2014 gathering responses from senior housing and skilled nursing providers within 70 small, medium and large organizations \u2014 shed light on summer occupancy levels. And according to NIC\u2019s findings, resident demand is the driving force behind increased move-ins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s an overview of NIC\u2019s other key discoveries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Between roughly <strong>55%<\/strong> and <strong>60%<\/strong> of respondents said the pace of move-ins has accelerated in the past 30 days<\/li><li>Fewer nursing care organizations reported accelerated move-ins, compared to previous surveys<\/li><li>Increased resident demand was cited by <strong>nine out of ten<\/strong> respondents as a reason for accelerated move-ins<\/li><li>Between approximately <strong>50%<\/strong> and <strong>70%<\/strong> of organizations reported an occupancy increase, with the memory care segment showing the most improvement<\/li><li><strong>61% <\/strong>of organizations anticipate their occupancy will rebound to pre-pandemic levels sometime in 2022<\/li><li><strong>100%<\/strong> of respondents said their organizations are experiencing staffing shortages<\/li><li>Among organizations with multiple properties, <strong>80%<\/strong> have staffing shortages in more than half of their properties<\/li><li><strong>Four out of five<\/strong> respondents indicated that attracting community and caregiving staff \u2014 and staff turnover \u2014 were the biggest challenges facing their organizations today. Roughly <strong>72%<\/strong> said increasing wages is the most effective tactic to improve this<\/li><li><strong>100%<\/strong> of respondents are currently paying staff overtime hours, up from a low of <strong>76% <\/strong>in the Wave 13 survey conducted in October 2020<\/li><li><strong>30%<\/strong> of respondents expect an increase in their development pipelines going forward<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s not forget about COVID-19 vaccine mandates and the role they\u2019ve played in these shifts. During the data collection period for Wave 31, some of the country\u2019s largest operators announced vaccine mandates for employees. Among operators surveyed in Wave 31, 39% said they\u2019ll definitely \u2014 or at least probably \u2014 mandate vaccinations for community staff members. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tools for senior living providers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With increased resident demand sweeping the senior living industry, how can providers keep up?
