The oldest members of Gen Z will ring in their 25<sup>th<\/sup> birthdays this year, and this tech-savvy group is quickly becoming the fastest growing renter demographic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coming of age in the era of smart phones and social media, Gen Zers are highly skilled and have even higher expectations compared to previous generations. By now, you probably know the basics about Gen Z, but as the up-and-coming generation of renters, it\u2019s critical to dig deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To appeal to these \u201cdigital natives,\u201d you must first understand their habits, values and lifestyles. As parents, Gen X tend to favor autonomy and entrepreneurialism, values they have passed on to their children. Members of Gen Z celebrate their independence and ability to express themselves, and they don\u2019t have the perception that things will just go their way. They aspire to become leaders, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/326354\">41% plan to become entrepreneurs.<\/a> More than others, this young generation seeks to <em>create<\/em> success instead of expecting it.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><strong>Gen Z values diversity and societal change<\/strong><br>While Gen Z is the largest generation yet \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-08-20\/gen-z-to-outnumber-millennials-within-a-year-demographic-trends\">roughly amounting to 2.46 <em>billion<\/em> people in 2019 <\/a>\u2014 it is also the most diverse. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/social-trends\/2020\/05\/14\/on-the-cusp-of-adulthood-and-facing-an-uncertain-future-what-we-know-about-gen-z-so-far-2\/\">Pew Research Center<\/a>, in the US, 52% of Gen Zers are non-Hispanic white, 25% are Hispanic, 14% are Black, 6% are Asian and 5% are other.<br><br>They\u2019ve also experienced and embraced a great deal of societal change. Having grown up with unprecedented social reach, connection and impact, members of Gen Z value differences in perspectives, attitudes and beliefs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Gen Z relies on social media for connection<\/strong><br>Perhaps the starkest difference between Gen Z and older generations is their familiarity with and reliance upon technology, which is an important tool they use to communicate, engage and connect \u2026 and they\u2019re <em>always <\/em>online<a href=\"https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/State-of-Gen-Z-2019.pdf\">. In a study of Gen Zers<\/a>, 95% said they are on a social media app or website at least once a week, with 63% of Gen Zers saying they used Youtube more than 2 hours a day and 66% reacting to an Instagram post in the last week. Additionally, older Gen Zers were significantly more likely than their younger counterparts to use Snapchat and Facebook.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#Reach4GenZ<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you know a little more about Gen Z characteristics, it\u2019s time to investigate the best ways to market to them as renters.
