Even brief lives can leave a lasting impact. Baby Angela Policastro departed from this world shortly after her first birthday. Her life inspired the creation of a unique non-profit that supports medically frail children and their families. Yardi united efforts to support this groundbreaking organization.<\/p>\n

About Angela\u2019s House<\/strong><\/p>\n

Angela\u2019s House<\/a> is a not-for-profit agency that offers support and services for the families of medically fragile children. By coordinating an array of \"\"essential home care services, Angela\u2019s House gives families an opportunity to focus on each other rather than finding, negotiating, funding and scheduling necessary resources.<\/p>\n

Home care services were only the beginning. Since 1992, the organization has expanding to include three residences. On average, the residences and home services serve 600 children each year.<\/p>\n

Programs cover medical supplies, therapeutic equipment, assistive technology, home modifications, respite, counseling and crisis assistance as well as special camps and other enrichment resources. These offerings are called the Everyday Wishes, providing for the everyday needs of kids as well as critical care.<\/p>\n

Angela\u2019s House + Yardi<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Angela\u2019s House 3K Walk raises funds for the Everyday Wishes. Yardi has participated in the walk for the past three years. The 2020 Virtual 3K Walk theme, \u201cAt Your Place, Your Pace\u201d encouraged participants to practice social distancing while supporting the organization. Patrons walked with their families, friends and neighbors to raise funds for the cause.<\/p>\n

CSD team leader Mark Skapinski and fellow planning committee members Sue LaGuardia, Joseph Montesano, and Cristine Gleason led the initiative at Yardi. #TeamYardi showed up in full force!<\/p>\n

In total, 31 Yardi employees participated in the walk, including eight from CSD. Different departments walked at different times, continuing support for the organization throughout the day. CSD team members walked with one another via Microsoft Teams video call on their phones. One team member recorded their approximate footsteps on his smartwatch so that everyone could participate with confidence.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cWe used this time to chat and build as a team,\u201d says Skapinski. \u201cIt was rewarding to come together as a team during COVID-19 and create an opportunity to spend time together knowing that we would be helping Angela\u2019s House.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues, \u201cThis is a great organization that has a big local impact. Seeing the children impacted by severe medical issues and knowing that our donations are helping them means the world to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Montesano, senior technical account manager, Consulting Practices at Yardi agrees. He is close to two families that have benefitted from Angela\u2019s House services and received insight on just how much the organization offers to the community.<\/p>\n

He explains, \u201cEvery event that Angela\u2019s House does benefits so many families, not only through what they provide directly but also because they work with other organizations to help as many families as they can. Being able to assist them in any way, especially during these crazy times, is all the reward needed for participating in the walk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Montesano describes the walk as \u201crefreshing.\u201d Team members walked their neighborhoods, sharing pictures of the scenery. It was a memorable and impactful experience for all.<\/p>\n
