This was a 0.5% decrease from the same period last year. The national vacancy rate increased 30 basis points <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-25997\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg 852w, https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?resize=768,579 768w, https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?w=400 400w, https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?w=500 500w, https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?w=600 600w, https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?w=720 720w, https:\/\/www.yardi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2020\/10\/commercialedge-image-1.jpg?w=800 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>month-over-month to 13.6%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListing rates have remained relatively sticky during the pandemic, with rates not decreasing concurrent with falling demand,\u201d states the report. \u201cThe long-term nature of office leases coupled with a lack of potential tenants gives owners no incentive to dramatically lower rates at the current time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the amount of new office stock under construction has fallen steadily throughout the year.
