Marguerite\u2019s Place<\/a> takes a holistic approach to ending homelessness. The organiz\"\"ation offers transitional housing, onsite childcare, as well as supportive services to break the cycle of homelessness and dependence for women and children.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit is nondenominational and service focused, with an emphasis on helping women and children who are facing housing insecurity. Over the years, Marguerite\u2019s Place has grown into ten secure, affordable housing units that are fully furnished for families.<\/p>\n

In addition to transitional housing, services include educational assistance, career development training, referrals, and case management. Staff can also connect residents with legal counsel, mental health counseling, financial guidance, and peer mentoring.<\/p>\n

The ancillary services at Marguerite\u2019s Place are what attracted Christa Tsechrintzis to the nonprofit. She\u2019s currently the Director of Development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI admired the guidance and intensive services that are provided to the residents to help them gain the confidence they need for self-sufficiency,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

While those services edify mothers, it\u2019s the on-site childcare that often receives the greatest applause.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat sets us apart from other transitional living programs is our on-site childcare center,\u201d says Tsechrintzis. \u201cOur center is a Licensed Plus program as well as a designated \u2018Strengthening Families\u2019 center which means the care is centered around the wellness of the family as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n

Women can step from homelessness towards expanding their educations and advancing their careers without worrying about childcare expenses during the transition. That one component makes advancement more accessible for women.<\/p>\n

Once women have graduated from the transitional housing at Marguerite\u2019s Place, they are eligible for MP Housing, a sister program with 10 condominiums.<\/p>\n

\u201cMP Housing is a next step for our residents that have graduated through our program.\u00a0They may stay in these condos for up to fives years and pay a rent that is closer to market rent with slight increases per year,\u201d explains Tsechrintzis.<\/p>\n

Long term, Marguerite\u2019s Place aims to help women move into unsubsidized housing and become productive members of society. On a personal level, each woman is encouraged to adapt a mindset of confidence and resourcefulness.<\/p>\n

Yardi is a proud sponsor of Marguerite\u2019s Place. Yardi\u2019s funds help to sustain supportive services such as intensive one-on-one case management.\u00a0This includes weekly meetings with each resident, resident meetings with guest speakers and trainers on topics such as positive parenting, budgeting, household management, and nutrition.<\/p>\n

You can join Yardi in supporting Marguerite\u2019s Place. Monetary donations, volunteering, and attending special events are the three most popular ways to get involved. The next public event, the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta<\/a>, takes place on May 5.<\/p>\n
