\u201cHunt Companies is always giving back,\u201d says Crisha Kamphorst, a business solutions manager for Hunt Companies Inc<\/a>., referring to he\"military-housing\"r employer\u2019s devotion to employees, residents and communities.\u00a0 Hunt Companies is a Yardi\u00ae<\/sup> client that manages more than 32,000 housing units across the U.S. as one of the military\u2019s privatized housing partners.<\/p>\n

That dedication is rooted in El Paso, Texas, Hunt Companies\u2019 headquarters since 1947.\u00a0 The Hunt Family Foundation, founded in 1987, has made grants and commitments of $52 million to 548 organizations.\u00a0 Organizations that have received funding include the University Medical Center Children\u2019s Hospital, Texas Tech Medical Center\u2019s School of Nursing, the University of Texas at El Paso, the El Paso Museum of Art and the El Paso Zoo.<\/p>\n

Deep Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just as the scope of Hunt Companies\u2019 business extends far beyond El Paso, so does the company\u2019s commitment to residents and their special circumstances.\u00a0 \u201cFrom the moment a military family sends us an application to the moment they move out of our house, they\u2019re part of our lives.\u00a0 We\u2019re part of their support network, we\u2019re part of their group,\u201d says Kamphorst, who as the wife of a retired U.S. Navy chief is quite familiar with the rigors of military life.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a family-owned company, Hunt is not only committed to employees, it\u2019s also committed to its mission,\u201d adds Dennis McDonald, Kamphorst\u2019s fellow business solutions manager at Hunt Companies.\u00a0 \u201cIn military housing, that boils down to providing the best possible housing for our military members and giving them the support they deserve.\u00a0 It\u2019s something we take very seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

A major event for services members\u2014and for Hunt Companies\u2014is a permanent change of station (PCS), which can uproot a family by redeploying somebody from Germany to Hawaii, from Hawaii to Maine, or from California to Washington state with little advance notice.\u00a0 \u201cHunt communities face many situations that conventional sites don\u2019t.\u00a0 When PCS orders come in, a site might have 70 move-outs in a week, and three days later it has 70 move-ins.\u00a0 It\u2019s challenging and sometimes difficult for everybody involved,\u201d Kamphorst says.\u00a0 \u201cWe have to support the residents and make quick decisions because they\u2019re making quick decisions on their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Capabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

The complexities of PCSs and other special aspects of military life prompted Hunt Companies\u2019 adoption of Yardi Voyager\u00ae<\/sup> Military Housing<\/a>, a dedicated platform for military housing providers, along with mobile solutions for maintenance and invoice processing.\u00a0 \u201cVoyager offers customized reporting that helps us make the partnership work for the government,\u201d McDonald says, adding, \u201cThe idea of doing everything on a mobile platform hits home for a military family that\u2019s scattered and on the go.\u00a0 Moving in this direction will provide service members with even more efficiency, such as the option to make payments online. Yardi has been great about providing us with new solutions as we need them.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur main focus is making our employees\u2019 jobs easier with better customer service and training.\u00a0 Yardi provides a level of customer service that we pass to our sites.\u00a0 That makes our jobs a little easier\u2014and serves our military families better.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
