\"MakeThe wishes range from the simple \u2013 \u201cI wish to have a PlayStation 2,\u201d one little boy requested \u2013 to the unusual – \u201cI wish to receive a blessing from the Pope,\u201d asked another. \u00a0But both were granted, thanks to the efforts of the Make a Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama.<\/a><\/p>\n

Make a Wish, a national organization with chapters around the country, is supported by Yardi Systems as part of our corporate philanthropy program.\u00a0 Helping sick kids realize some of their wildest dreams is the organization\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are parents who tell us they hadn\u2019t seen their child smile until they got their wish,\u201d said Jill Thornton, Director of Development for Individual Giving.\u00a0 \u201cWe have children who wouldn\u2019t eat, and after they got their wish they were able to start eating again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The wish recipients are usually struggling with chronic, sometimes terminal illnesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen these children are granted a wish, they get more than just a great experience for a day, two days or a week. \u00a0That special wish improves the quality of life for them and their families. \u00a0It gives them hope, strength and joy during a very difficult and challenging time,\u201d explained John J. Brennan,\u00a0 CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama.<\/p>\n

Yardi has donated over $35,000 to the organization over the last three years.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of all our \u201cWish\u201d children and their families, as well as our volunteers and staff, I thank and applaud Yardi for making such a vital and far-reaching difference in the lives of our Make-A-Wish children, year after year!\u201d \u00a0Brennan said.<\/p>\n

Jessa’s story<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"JessaTen-year-old Jessa loves the Little Red Riding Hood storybook and Nickelodeon\u2019s iCarly television show.\u00a0 Unfortunately, Jessa was diagnosed with metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD), a genetic disorder that affects her nerves, muscles, and various other organs, as well as behavior.\u00a0 Although it causes her pain, Jessa\u2019s bright spirit remains.\u00a0 When Make-A-Wish Foundation\u00ae<\/sup> of Georgia and Alabama offered to grant her a wish, Jessa chose a room makeover with an iCarly theme.\u00a0 Following months of preparation, Jessa returned home to her very own re-decorated room.\u00a0 Struck by the bright purple walls, Jessa investigated the changes.\u00a0 She found a chandelier of rainbow gummy-bears, an ice cream sandwich bench, new bedding, and a flat screen television.\u00a0 Above her bed was a wall decal that said iJessa, just like those seen on iCarly.\u00a0 A lasting memory of the magic of Make-A-Wish Foundation\u00ae<\/sup>, Jessa\u2019s wish brought joy, not only to her, but also her whole family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
