Yardi UK<\/a> took part in MK Can, hosted by MK Food Bank on October 16, to collect cans of food to support people in need. MK Food Bank organised this event to beat the Guinness World Record, set back in 2014, of 44,966 cans. Following an official attempt to form the longest line of cans, MK Food Bank achieved the Guinness World Record<\/a> with over 102,400 cans!<\/p>\n

MK Food Bank has supported the local community with emergency food parcels since 2004. Now supporting more than 5,000 families a year, MK Food Bank operates from its distribution centre in Kiln Farm, Milton Keynes and distributes from 10 serving centres across Milton Keynes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Approximately 100 businesses, 20 schools, 30 churches and faith groups, 50 community organisations and 25 charities\u202fgot involved, with an additional 11,000 cans funded by the general public. The event has provided more than half of the canned food that MK Food Bank\u202fneeds for an entire year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A huge thank you to the Yardi Milton Keynes and London Waterloo offices for supporting this event and donating 1,050 cans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Established in 2004, MK Food Bank originated as a direct response to growing food poverty in the area. Now supporting more than 5,000 families a year, it operates from its distribution centre in Kiln Farm, Milton Keynes MK11 3HB and distributes from 10 serving centres across Milton Keynes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

People call or are referred to MK Food bank for a variety of reasons, with family crises, loss of employment or benefits and debt problems all common. Sometimes people coming out of hospital or prison need immediate practical support, as do those placed in emergency accommodation. Whatever circumstances leave families struggling to keep a roof over their heads, The Food Bank provides short term, crisis food support. By working closely with local social care and health agencies, MK Food Banks helps ensure people are receiving assistance with their underlying issues.
