A Texan who now makes her home in Toronto, Brittney Dolinger has an exceptional outlook on life – and a great perspective on her Yardi journey.

Currently working as a team lead supporting Yardi’s Genesis2 clients, Dolinger started with Yardi more than seven years ago, when the company had an office in Dallas.

“I was just in one year remission from cervical cancer,” said Dolinger, who learned about Yardi from her sister, Laci Ortiz, a 10-year Yardi employee. “My sister told me about a new vision Yardi had and was looking for exceptional customer service oriented people to help build their new call center.”

After diving into her new job, she began learning the ropes of a new industry and was part of the team who helped build the Yardi Call Center in Irving, Texas.

“When we moved from the Dallas office to the Irving office, I took the opportunity to step up my game.

We started to have more and more clients and that comes with more responsibility. We were making a name for ourselves and working on delivering top quality customer service to the industry,” she recalled.

The call center team, known among Yardi’s global offices for its camaraderie and rapport, quickly expanded and became a valued part of the Yardi Marketing Suite, where multifamily clients use RentCafe Connect to meet their after-hours customer service needs.

While use of the product grew, so did the families of many of the call center employees, including Dolinger’s.

“Nine of us were pregnant at the same time in the call center. We like to call them our Yardi babies,” she laughed. Her son Finn is now three and a half. After he was born, she went back to college to finish her bachelor’s degree, which she completed while working part time at Yardi.

Dolinger’s husband Tyler works for Chipotle Mexican Grill, and the family had a unique opportunity to move to Canada, where he would be responsible for opening dozens of new restaurants.

With the support of Yardi, Brittney applied for a job in the Yardi Toronto office while Chipotle moved the family’s paperwork forward.

“Once we were approved, I remember the long talks I had with human resources and Lynn Topp from Yardi Canada. She told me all about the new products, the people, the town and the cool

places to visit in town. It was like I was already a part of the Yardi Canada team,” Dolinger said.

She put together lists of all the places to visit in Toronto once the family relocated, including regional parks, restaurants, community centers and more. Nearly two years after the move, items are still being crossed off the list each weekend.

In Canada, Dolinger took on a new role supporting Genesis2 clients. She quickly learned an important distinction about Yardi’s software platform for smaller multifamily and commercial clients.

“Before I joined this team, I was under the impression that Genesis2 was a ‘Voyager lite’ product. But that is so not the case. It is its own product and system, with clients who need our support to implement the platform and solve their problems. I am glad we are able to listen to our clients and deliver products that fit their needs instead of us molding them to us.”

In Toronto, she has found a team with similar spirit and camaraderie similar to what she knew back home in Texas.

“Since being here at Yardi Canada, I have loved seeing how global Yardi’s vision and mission goes. It is nice to feel at home here. I am sure our other international offices feel the same. The people I have forged relationships with here have made all the difference to me.”

Dolinger isn’t sure what the future might hold, but she hopes to continue to grow her career and looks forward to taking on new challenges.

“It has been such a great journey these past seven years, three offices, two countries later! I love working for Yardi and am looking forward to many years to come.”
