On March 29-30, Yardi hosted the second Yardi Senior Living Forum, focused specifically on the needs of our senior living clients,  in Santa Barbara, Calif. The two-day featured speakers, classes, roundtable discussions, computer lab time and more.Ray

In advance of that event, Ray Elliot, vice president of senior living, joined us to share insight on the Yardi Senior Living Suite. An end-to-end solution that tracks senior living residents throughout their housing journey, the suite includes Yardi EHR for health care records, numerous offerings from Yardi’s ancillary product line, and continues to expand.

Senior living is a rapidly growing segment of the multifamily housing market, and Yardi is developing new and improved technology offerings that cater specifically to this client base.

Read on for insight on the Yardi Senior Living Suite.

What is your mission on the senior living team?

Elliot: Our mission is to help senior living providers provide better care to their residents through software and technology. We aim to streamline both the property management and care services on a platform that is efficient, mobile and adaptable.

What does the Yardi Senior Living Suite look like?

Elliot: Our greatest strength s our single solution stack. I do not believe any other vendor can take you from the initial contact that starts the resident relationship, all the way through the resident lifecycle. RENTCafe Senior Living can be used to market the communities. Prospect and mass marketing is done in CRM. From there, our clients manage their communities, health care records, medical care and other resident services from a single database. RentCafe Senior Living augments the resident relationship by allowing the resident and family to make payments online and view care related information. Added together, this level of functionality is unique in the market space. Many other technology providers address just one segment of that offering.

What levels of care does Yardi Senior Living Suite serve?

Elliot: Currently, our product supports independent living and assisted living. We are also in the process of adding products designed for skilled nursing.

Any other enhancement you are working on?

Elliot: Role-based apps are an area of focus for us. In the near future, we will be releasing a mobile app for point-of-care charting, so that tracking resident care can be completed on a smartphone or a tablet. We’ve also begun work on an app for the assessment process, along with additional apps designed for sales and marketing. We are also developing an app to allow payors to manage and make payments.

What kinds of security advantages can clients depend upon when using Yardi’s web-based platform hosted in the cloud?

Elliot: We take security seriously here at Yardi. Our security team includes 150 experts, from network engineers to systems analysts and administrators. They work as part of a global team that provides 24/7 coverage both online and on site. As a result, our clients can rest assured all of their sensitive data, including resident records and accounting information, are protected by top-notch security measures.

What training and support resources are available for Yardi’s senior living clients?

Elliot: Support is a focus for us. That includes how we help the client implement the product, and ongoing support afterward. On-site assistance is available for set-up and implementation, as well as training. We recognize that the senior living industry has unique training staffing needs. Our eLearning platform allows client staff to learn about our products at their own pace.

We have a solid foundation of eLearning classes available and are always working to expand our course offering. In addition, our Community Support team, set up specifically for our EHR clients, hosts ongoing webinars focusing specifically on Yardi EHR functionality.

What can clients expect at the Yardi Senior Living Forum?

Elliot: This is the second forum we have offered for our senior living clients. We have 49 classes for attendees to choose from over the next two days, which represents a 50% increase from last year. We’ve expanded the number of courses and course topics based on client feedback we received after last year’s event. Attendees can also visit Knowledge Central at the conference for one-on-one help. There is plenty of opportunity to connect and collaborate with industry peers.

How can clients provide input on their use of the Senior Living Suite?

Elliot: There are three roundtables scheduled, where our goal is to dialogue and collect feedback from the users of our products. One-on-one discussions are also encouraged.

What is one key value that Yardi offers the senior living market?

Elliot: As we develop the product, we look to create solutions that really help the client become more efficient in their day-to-day tasks. In the senior space, we would prefer that the end user be focused on the care to the resident, rather than the product. That is important tous, and we aim to deliver that level of efficiency through technology.
