Anant Yardi, President
In 1982, Anant Yardi recognized the need for an integrated accounting and property management software solution for the residential marketplace. As the director of systems development for Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) and 14 years programming experience, he knew he had the background to design such a product, so he decided to pursue the endeavor. In 1984, “Basic Property Management” was created for the Apple II computer and was sold to his first customer, Sabaco Realtors. Since then, Yardi Systems has become the global leader in asset and property management solutions, and serves more than 20,000 businesses, representing 7 million residential units and 8 billion square feet of commercial space in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Today, Mr. Yardi continues as President of Yardi Systems, and his vision is the driving force behind development of effective and innovative software solutions for global portfolio management. He has been recognized as one of the early pioneers in the Commercial Real Estate automation industry -- a "visionary in respect to automation systems and the resultant benefits in property operations", as well as one of the “Top 35 People to Watch” by RealComm. He was inducted into the Multi-Housing News “Hall of Fame” in 2004, and his software continues to receive industry accolades such as; "Best Provider of Property Management Software", “Best Technology Provider, Property Management, and “Most Innovative Technology” from both residential and commercial industry organizations.
With an M.A. in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Yardi’s professional experience includes 25 years as President Yardi Systems, and 14 years of developing programming methodologies and directing systems development at Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) prior to establishing Yardi Systems in 1982.
